Silence is Broken

November 10, 2015

Six months since my last post and finally my silence is broken.

And the reason for it? I went to the Northumberland coast to work as a holiday site assistant for the Camping & Caravanning Club.

The views of Dunstanburgh Castle were spectacular, as you can see in the photo taken by my husband Ian, but digital signals of all kinds were as hard to catch as the fish.

Dunstanburgh Castle

To sum up what I have been doing since returning home I would like to quote from ‘The Seer Sung Husband’ by Bob Beagrie (Smokestack Books: 2010), which is one of several books that I have reread to get me back into the poetry zone:

I find October to be the loneliest month,

a month full of threadbare holes from which

omens emerge like russet words, a time

for choosing and withdrawing, approaching Samhain,

for letting go and for storing what will be needed.

Now I am moving forward again with my sanctuary-themed collection, redrafting poems written before touring New Zealand earlier this year and drafting new ones from notes and photos taken during that visit.

See posts under the ‘travel’ category on this blog if you would like to see what we got up to over there and watch out for my next post about my new writing space.

Until then ‘keep on writing.’

  1. Nice to have you back. Wish I had a lovely reason to explain my lack of posts.

    • Thank you for responding. I wasn’t sure if this would still work after such a long break. It seems to me that a few months absence in the virtual world is a much longer stretch of time than in the actual world. Good to know you are still following. Best regards, Judith
