Castle fit for a Queen

May 5, 2015

Scolland's Hall, Richmond Castle

I took this photo of Scolland’s Hall in Richmond Castle prior to the Queen’s visit to the Royal Lancers’ amalgamation event on Saturday the 2nd May.

As you will know by now princess Charlotte chose that date to make her entrance into the world.

That was the second time that I have seen the Queen and on both occasions she was wearing vivid shades of pink, so who can say whether or not she knew that the baby was going to be a girl.

Over two and a half thousand people attended the event which was a great success despite the inclement weather.

Staff are now working hard to restore the grounds and the castle to their best condition for visitors, and I am preparing to swap my role as historic properties steward for a similar role with the Camping & Caravanning Club.

In two week’s time I will be exchanging views of Richmond Castle for views of Dunstanburgh Castle, (another English Heritage property) in Northumberland.
