Exhibition Opening at New Arts Venue

November 18, 2013

Poster for Gospels revisited exhibition at the Witham Hall, Barnard Castle
On Wednesday a new arts exhibition is opening at the Witham Hall. The Witham is a new venue for community and cultural events in Barnard Castle, County Durham.
The Gospels Revisited exhibition features work by a range of artists created in response to the return of the Gospels to Durham city. Fine and contemporary art, ceramics, film, glass, jewellery, photography, poetry and textiles are among the items which will be on display in the gallery from the 20th November 2013 to 5th January 2014.
Creative practitioners were invited to consider how their creations are influenced or inspired by their local and personal heritage. My poem ‘Land of my Ancestors’ will be on view as a photo/poem, the verse having been printed across a photograph of Cross Fell, and copies of Lifelines will be available for purchase.
Poems submitted for the ‘One Poem for Teesdale’ project will also be on show in the gallery for the duration of the exhibition.
The Witham Hall is now organising poetry events which can be found online at www.thewitham.org.uk under the Literature column of the drop down menu beneath the What’s On page.
The programme offers a broad spectrum of arts events in addition to regular music, theatre and cinema evenings.
If you have a story to tell about your life and times, the Witham is also working with the Bowes Museum on an oral heritage project to gather personal reflections of the area. For details of how to get involved see www.thewitham.org.uk
