I am pleased to announce that I will be Writer in Residence at NeST gallery in Barnard Castle during August.
For this residency I will be collaborating with Radio Teesdale to realise the ‘One Poem for Teesdale project.’ The project aims to find the poem which best expresses the history, culture and landscape of the area.
This is a follow up to last year’s successful Winning Words cultural Olympic project in Barnard Castle which was chosen as a beacon for promoting poetry across the North East of England.
There are several ways that you can participate in the search for ‘One Poem for Teesdale.’
You can:
* Attend writing workshops in the gallery on Thursday mornings throughout August from 10a.m. to 12 noon.
* Listen to Radio Teesdale’s Book programmes on the 25th July, 29th August and 26th September.
* Enter a traditional or contemporary poem written by yourself or another poet for the competition.
* Visit the 1000 Creations exhibition at NeST during September to view the portfolio of poetry submissions and nominate your favourite.
The 1000 Creations exhibition celebrates the return of the Lindisfarne gospels to the North East of England. Work produced by both writers and artists for the exhibiton will be displayed at three venues in Barnard Castle during September.
Whilst I am Writer in Residence I will also be offering coaching sessions for both writers and artists at NeST.
For further details on any of the above, you can contact me by email: or phone 07808 063944.

  1. Hi Judith

Sounds fantastic! We need to catch up soon to talk about how it will be displayed and about the readings on the preview night – I’ve lost track and can’t remember when you’re away?

I’m on yet another two weeks sick leave and so fed up of popping antibiotics!

    See you soon   Lindsey

    • Hi Lindsey
Unfortunately I am away on the rescheduled preview night. I could arrange to schedule readings at each venue on other dates during the exhibition. Poetry will be in an A4 file for people to browse and vote on so that it does not take up too much wall space. Still waiting for a publication date for my pamphlets. Will be September but I don’t know exactly when.
