New Fantasy Poetry Project

Now that ‘Twisting in the Land of Light’ is available as a Smashwords publication it is time for me to turn my attention to a new fantasy poetry project.
As with all creative projects it is often fruitful when starting something new to take a step back and review what you have already completed.
I was surprised to discover how many fantasy elements are hidden within my previous work. I have written about: crystals, dragons, unicorns, knights, castles and divinations to name but a few.
Undercurrents include history, mythology, the Chinese 5 elements and forces of nature.
Work in progress contains shape-shifting as a recurrent theme.
Having reviewed what I had written, I then researched what others are producing in this field and discovered that Wattpad have a category for fantasy-poetry stories. I was tempted to join the Wattpad community but decided to create space for this genre on my wordpress blog instead.
I hope that you will enjoy reading more of my work in this vein during the coming weeks.
In the meantime, if you are about to embark on a new project, I recommend reviewing what you have already achieved and mindmapping future directions for your creative output.
An insight worth noting was raised on a coaching refresher course that I attended at the weekend: ‘The more authentic the work is for you, the more others will be able to see themselves in it.’
Ask yourself the following:
what it is that you feel impelled to write or produce at the moment?
if you went to the beach what kind of shape would you create from the sand?
what does it represent?
